New Products

I'll admit, I hit a brick wall with Serenity Potions.

But this month, we have had fun with Sophie breaking her arm, and Rob having fun and games with work, I needed to do something.  Rather than doing something sensible like, getting a real job, with real hours.  I had my very own Eureka moment in the bath.  I jumped out the bath and did what any sane woman would do, I phoned Harry from Purky.  He wasn't answering his phone, so I facebooked and twittered Harry then babbled like a woman possessed at Rob.  Who just gave me that "yes dear" look.

Harry phoned me back, he loved the idea, we discussed it and within minutes developed it into an even better product, with more ideas of future products.  I did some research on the Internet, I gave the product a name.  I went back to my training to find out the best way to make it work.  I decided I really need to sit down and type up my coursework, but that would have to wait.

Within hours I was making a prototype, enlarging, fiddling, sorting, tweaking, teaching Sophie lots of new words in her ever growing vocabulary.  The prototype is now sitting on my desk, I am ready to work on the real thing.

Here it goes............

Being POKED!

One of the reasons I decided to start blogging was an artist friend of mine told me I had to absolutely postively read this book on marketing.  I find it is very much like talking to myself, as I am never sure who is reading this.  He has mentioned that he would very much like to read my next blog, so here it is just for him.

I have completed the first three sections on my crystal healing course, and the next three sections have been sent to me, I am currently reading my way through these and I hope to have them completed next month.  They are talking about different types of stones and how their colours affect the attributes of the stone.

I am still sorting out my aromatherapy, I am a couple of thousand words short on my case studies.

October is a busy month for my family, I have my dads birthday, my parents Wedding Anniversary and my Husbands birthday, which is on Halloween.  Plus i've started planning for Christmas already to get the home made items finished and out the way.   There are a lot of tempting smells around this time for year, I am wondering how to get that spicy pumpkin smell into soaps.  There is a freshness in the air you just can't create properly, but I wont bother with the burning dust smell that comes from switching the gas fire on for the first time this year.

I have been busy, honest!

It has been a hectic month, but it makes September less boring.
I do now have, two blogs, because tumblr talks to my blackberry nicely, meaning I can blog on the go, do not fear, I am working on this blog becoming mobile as well.
We have a facebook fanpage, a twitter account, an etsy shop (don't go hopping over there yet, we have no stock).  I have moved the email address from hotmail, to gmail, as gmail has this nice little ability to link everything together and hopefully, make my life a little easier.

Studying has been slow this month, I need someone to practise my massage on.  I have been diving into my research books when time allows.  I have been researching some great packaging technics, ways to make the products look great and keep them at their best for the longest period of time.

I don't know about you, but I am already planning for Christmas.  Mincemeat and chutneys need to be started, all those lovely cinnamon and ginger smells are filling me with ideas for festive oils.  I'm looking forward to having a crack at those.

Things I have discovered.....

1, The rumour about cats disliking citrus smells is apparently wrong.  My cat walks all over my new scrubbed with lemon oil floor.
2, There are a lot of crystals out there that need to be placed at the base of the spine, to get the best benefit from their healing qualities,  I will invent crystal knickers with a little padded pocket at the back.
3, Studying at 11 at night will give me a headache, but nothing a little lavender and a good nights sleep can't handle.
4, Google calendar allows you to view the stardate, how geeky is that!
5, A little clove oil in the bath first thing in the morning on a cold day, is wonderfully warming.

My First post

Well this is it, my first post about a company that is not yet trading.  I just have my final exam to complete on my aromatherapy course and I have no excuse to go ahead and turn this idea into a full up and running company.

The idea of this blog is to tantalise you with new product ideas, to get feed back on whether you think it would work or not and to start creating a product that people will love, enjoy using and that actually works.  There is no point in me making batches and batches of bathroom products that I can only give away to my family as Christmas presents because nobody is interested in it.

I am going to be looking at products to make, ways to package these and way to promote myself.  I hope you enjoy the ride as much as I do.
